Molesley soldiers on despite Blues mounting troubles

Tranmere Rovers v Southend United – Sky Bet League Two – Prenton Park – Saturday 3pm – Preview

Mark Molesley remained dogged in his approach despite the desperate situation his Southend United side finds themselves in, entrenched at the bottom of Sky Bet League Two.

Tuesday’s defeat at Salford City was the Blues fifth from seven. They now head to Tranmere Rovers, a side themselves looking to kick start their season following an indifferent start.

“I’ve said all along, we have to react in the most positive way and make the best of the situation,” the Blues chief explained.

“Nothing changes. We still analyse the game honestly and openly and we shared that with the players on Thursday.

“All we can focus on is trying to improve and get better. Training the best we can and preparing the best we can.

“I’ve said it, the game is about lots of moments and we’ve come up short in a few moments and we’re getting punished for it.

“We can turn that tide just as quickly by being more alert to those areas and continue striving to improve and we can turn it around, it’s in our control to do that.”

Molesley will be without injured quartet, Nathan Ralph, John White, Simeon Akinola and Alan McCormack.  Lewis Gard won’t feature again this season after a horrific cruciate ligament injury picked up during the EFL Trophy defeat to Portsmouth a fortnight ago.
