More comings and goings at Chelmsford City

CHELMSFORD CITY continues to reshape their playing squad for when football returns to the Melbourne Community Stadium.

The Vanarama National League outfit has confirmed that winger, Tom Wraight, has agreed on a new deal and will also take up the mantle of vice-captain at the club.

Wraight initially linked up with the Clarets from Maidstone United in May 2018. Previously, the player had represented Witham Town and East Thurrock United. Speaking to www.chelmsfordcityfc.com  about his appointment as vice-skipper, Wraight enthused: “Yeah, really happy with it and nice to be asked! Looking forward to getting started up again…. at some point.”

Meanwhile, heading out of the club is striker, Sam Higgins, who had joined Chelmsford for a second time in May 2019.

Higgins made 61 appearances for the Clarets, finding the net 28 times. Speaking about his departure, manager, Robbie Simpson, explained; “Sam had an up and down season mainly due to injury but we all know he is a proven goalscorer at this level. Therefore we offered him a contract at lesser terms but Sam decided to move on.”
