Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur – Premier League – Turf Moor – Monday 8pm
Jose Mourinho adopted a cautious approach ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Monday night visit to struggling Burnley.
It would appear that the Lilywhites are lightyears away from Sean Dyche’s side at the moment. But despite the East Lancashire side sitting third from bottom with a single point, the Spurs boss insisted we haven’t seen a fair reflection of the Turf Moor side as yet.
“You will feel how strong they are by March or April when lots of teams will be fighting for relegation, and they will be already safe,” the Portugues chief explained.
“They will already be eight, nine or ten, comfortable in the table. This is Burnley – the fact they only have one point at this moment – they have played one match less and the fact they have one point doesn’t tell me much.”
Mourinho continued: “Burnley is Burnley. The way they play, the players they have, their style of play, the manager, nothing’s changed there. It’s always difficult and it’s going to be difficult.
“I expect Burnley to try to stop us, and they’ve done that for many years, with success in many cases.”
