Mourinho cautious of wounded Palace

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur – Selhurst Park – Premier League – Sunday 4pm

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur – Preview;

A Europa League place potentially in the offering – facing a Crystal Palace side in no form at all – you’d have thought Jose Mourinho would be rubbing his hands at the prospect of sealing the deal following an otherwise satisfactory end to the Premier League campaign.

However, the Spurs boss refused to count his chickens, despite facing a side coming into the game off the back of seven successive defeats and possibly relieved the season is concluding before they fell any further.

“It means nothing for me – I never look at the opponents based on their run,” Mourinho explained.

“I never look to the opponents based on their position in the table. I look to the opponents by what they are in terms of their potential, their quality and organisation.

“That’s the way I look to opponents. So for me, Palace are a very good team that had a very good season with good results, always competing, even against the top teams, getting results or trying to get them, making it really difficult for big opposition. Great coach, lots of experience, very good players. The last match of the season, it’s going to be hard.”

Mourinho will have Dele Alli available following a hamstring injury, with Eric Dier returns from suspension. Tanguy Ndombele remains an absentee.
