West Ham United v SC Freiburg – UEFA Europa League Round of Sixteen, Second Leg – Thursday (5:45pm) – Preview

David Moyes could turn to experienced duo Danny Ings and Michail Antonio to turn around West Ham United’s UEFA Europa League round of sixteen, second leg tie with SC Freiburg on Thursday evening.

The pair made an impact, with Ings netting a late equaliser as the East Londoners recovered a two-goal deficit to force a 2-2 Premier League draw with struggling Burnley at the London Stadium. Moyes could be tempted to go with a similar approach with his side trailing to an eighty-first-minute strike from Michael Gregoritsch to hand the Bundesliga side a narrow advantage from the first leg.

Lukasz Fabianksi is expected to replace Alphonse Areola. The Pole is recognised as the Hammers ‘cup goalkeeper’ – Meanwhile, James Ward-Prowse and Kalvin Phillips are expected to be available despite being withdrawn at the interval during the Burnley stalemate.

Moyes is keen for West Ham to continue their recent good form in European competitions: “We’ll do everything we can on Thursday to get through,” he told www.whufc.com.

“We just need to do as well as we have done for the last two years in Europe. We’ve only been in this situation once, against Seville, and I think everyone knows what we have to do.

“We certainly know what we have to do and hopefully the crowd know what part they have to play as well.”
