Moyes satisfied but believes his Hammers can do better

West Ham United 1-1 Manchester City – Reaction

David Moyes is starting to see West Ham United evolve into the sort of unit he’d expected, although insisted they can offer more as the season continues to unfold.

The Scotsman oversaw his sides’ creditable 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the London Stadium, extending their recent unbeaten league sequence to four.

“After our Newcastle performance I was absolutely stunned, I hadn’t seen that coming in pre-season, games or the players, I had seen what I am seeing now,” Moyes explained.

“I’d like to put that as a one-off that day. Now is more like what we expect to play like. Two wins and two draws against teams who are hard to take points against.

They are credible – worthy. We played better against Spurs than today but we were hard to beat and to score against today which against City, and what they are capable of, is good for us.”

A 1-1 result against City side used to bagging an avalanche of goals every time they visit East London is not to be sniffed at. Nevertheless, Moyes reiterated his side have played better of late.

“It’s a strange one, really,” he added.

“I think we can play much better but I am really pleased with the point. Remember, Man City have come here twice recently and scored four and five so we did some good things, probably more so in the first half when we played well.

“Second half was a bit more difficult but I have to say, the brilliant character from the players. They showed it last Sunday and they did today in a different way to hang on and keep something.”
