Sir David Amess, Conservative MP for Southend West, visited Southend Hospital on Friday August 7 to thank doctors, nurses and support staff for their dedication throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
Keeping to the current rules on social distancing and the wearing of face masks in hospital, Sir David didn’t visit any wards but spoke to several members of staff from a range of areas and departments about their experiences in caring for patients.
Sir David was accompanied by Tom Abell, the trust’s deputy chief executive, Denise Townsend, director of nursing at Southend and Anthony McKeever, executive lead of the Mid and South Essex Health and Care Partnership and joint accountable officer for its five clinical commissioning groups (Interim).
