Music service nominated for National Diversity Award

A community group delivering music therapy sessions across Essex has been nominated for a prestigious national award.

Therapy In Musical Expression is shortlisted for the Community Organisation Award (Multi-strand) category at the National Diversity Awards.

TIME offers therapeutic, sensory, relaxation-based sessions, songwriting workshops, instrument tuition and broader workshops to give participants of all ages, abilities and backgrounds the opportunity to express and experiment within a musical environment.

The organisation has worked extensively in the education, care, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, mental health and respite sectors.

A weekly club night called Involve, which caters for anyone with a disability, takes place every Monday, which has been hosted on Zoom throughout lockdown but will relaunch at The Edge in Basildon from September 27.

A spokesman for TIME said: “We are deeply honoured to have been selected.”
