New rescue boat to be named after late Southend MP

Leigh Round Table has funded the purchase of a new revolutionary rescue/patrol boat for Chalkwell Lifeguards Club volunteers to be able to carry out routine patrols along the Southend foreshore.

The new craft is to be named Sir David Amess MP at a later launch ceremony to honour and celebrate the life and achievements of the much loved and missed local MP who dedicated his life to helping the people of Southend.

This new Takacat catamaran design hull inflatabe boat is very light and stable and has a revolutionary completely open bow front design to allow the easy recovery of a casualty straight from the water enabling a speedy return to shore.

This craft also comes equipped complete with a lifesaving heart defibrillator, emergency bleed control kit and full first aid kit.
