The newly formed ‘Four Oars Rowing Club’ took to the water for the first time in two new rowing boats following a successful first launch from Two Tree Island Slipway on Saturday morning.
Following a rowing session to Old Leigh to explore an old sunken wreck, club members rowed to Chalkwell Beach where they stopped off for a well earned break at Chalkwell Lifeguards Club at Chalkwell Shelter.
Four Oars Rowing Club spokesperson Stewart Taylor explained that the new rowing club had been formed to encourage and provide the opportunity for people of all ages to get out onto the water safely and to be able to learn and enjoy the sport of rowing on The Thames Estuary.
