Old Southendian v Rayleigh Town – Essex Olympian League Premier Division – Garon Park – Report
Old Southendian 1-2 Rayleigh Town
Old Southendian boss, Altan Ali insisted he had no complaints after witnessing his side slip to a 2-1 Essex Olympian League Premier Division defeat at the hands of leaders Rayleigh Town at Garon Park.
Following a goalless opening period, Town eased into a two-goal lead thanks to strikes from Gianni Frankis and Joe Olley.
Matt Tonking pulled one back for the home side from the penalty spot in what proved to be a competitive contest: “I thought we dominated the first half,” Ali told Yellow Sport.
“We hit the bar and tested their goalkeeper but couldn’t make the breakthrough.
“I’ve got no real complaints. The game could have gone either way.”
Elsewhere, Old Southendian Reserves went down by three goals to two in an entertaining Division Two clash with their Basildon Town counterpart at the Basildon Sports & Leisure Club.
