Wolverhampton Wanderers v West Ham United – Premier League – Molineux Stadium – Reaction
Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 West Ham United
David Moyes offered an honest assessment after witnessing his West Ham United side surrender their unbeaten away sequence against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.
Raul Jimenez fired the only goal of the game just before the hour, sending a flat Hammers side spinning to defeat: “I think there was a bit missing,” teh Scotsman explained.
“A couple of players were not really at the level they’ve shown – a couple coming back from illness.
“We just weren’t quite at the races, the first time playing without Angelo. There’s a few things but no excuses.”
Moyes continued: “Games in the Premier League – there is very little between the teams. Today was very tight but we didn’t play as well as we have done.
“But if you expect us to be on it every game then we’ll be having these questions quite a bit because we’re not at the level yet to play at the highest standards every single game this season.”
West Ham produced very little during the afternoon: “I think that Wolves are a good team as well, and maybe we were not quite at it – but for the opening twenty minutes.
“We had opportunities to get in front and then they had control of the second half of the first half and then actually when the goal came, I did not think we were that far out of it.
“The game was very close but that is what it is like in the Premier League. We were just not quite on it.”
