Wolverhampton Wanderers v Tottenham Hotspur – Carabao Cup third round – Molineux – Wednesday (7:45pm) – Preview

Back-to-back Premier League defeats – A North London derby looming on the horizon against an emerging Arsenal side – It would appear that Tottenham Hotspur boss, Nuno Espirito Santo will priorities when the Lilywhites head to his old stomping ground at Molineux on Wednesday evening.

Spurs won by a goal to nil in the Black County when they visited Wolves a month ago. However, with injuries and current form an issue, the Carabao Cup tie could provide a platform for some of the North Londoners fringe players, desperate for game time and keen to impress the manager ahead of Sunday’s showdown at the Emirates.

“Totally different – the approach is the same,” Nuno explained ahead of the two fixtures.

“We cannot play the game on Sunday, on Wednesday. We play on Wednesday so let’s focus on the game of tomorrow.

That’s the only focus we have. Regarding team news, nothing has changed much.

“We still have players out. Some players with some issues from the previous game which we are trying to manage, but nothing has changed much.”

Harry Kane looks set to feature in the West Midlands. However, Nuno is still without injured duo Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn.

On Bergwijn, the Spurs boss added: “He has an injury on his foot, a sprain, he twisted his ankle. It’s very painful and the decision was to protect his foot and at the same time keep doing upper body workouts and try to maintain as fit as possible.

“But the injury needs to settle down and prevent him from feeling pain. It’s very painful now.”

Jeevesie’s prediction: Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur
