Billericay Town v Maidstone United – Blunts Wall Road – Vanarama National League South – Tuesday 7:45pm

BILLERICAY TOWN manager, Jamie O’Hara, will demand a positive response from his players following Saturday’s dismal 2-0 Vanarama National League defeat at Welling United on Saturday.

Adam Coombes powerfully headed the Wings in front just before the hour and Billericay’s misery was compounded when Antony Cook rattled home from the spot five minutes from time. Indeed, the margin of defeat could have been far greater not for a sterling performance from Blues goalkeeper, Alan Julian.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers man, O’Hara took to Twitter, offering sympathy to the travelling Town support at Park View Road, explaining:

Want to apologise to our great fans for that performance today, we played like the season was over, unacceptable and won’t allow that to happen again, three home games now if they go ahead.’

The Town chief will insist their fans see a vast improvement when outside play-off hopefuls, Maidstone United visit Blunts Wall Road on Tuesday evening. Nevertheless, his side – just two points and three places above the relegation zone – face a tough task against the Kent outfit, who themselves require an upturn in fortunes following a run which has seen them win one and lose five of their last six league outings, leaving them five points adrift of the top seven.
