Westcliff On Sea won by 74 runs

Old Southendian & Southchurch 2nds were relegated by a single point after slipping to defeat at the hands of their Westcliff On Sea counterparts at Chalkwell Park.

The writing was on the wall as Bob Curtis scored 70 for the homes side, while Kamran Khan chipped in with 49 and Finlay Mackay 35 before the home side were dismissed in the 43rd over for a competitive 271. Old Southendian’s Sam Hodgson returned figures of three for 34, while Henry Williams took 3/66.

But the target was beyond the Old Boys who fell 74 runs shy of their target. Yasir Ahmad carried the fight with 64 but with those around him falling relatively cheaply, it was always going to be a tall order. Westcliff’s Ishan Madan did much of the damage, claiming 4/25 from five overs.
