Old Southendian & Southchurch returned to Essex League Division Three winning ways with a routine 64-run success over Old Brentwoods at the Society of Old Brentwoods Ground.

Ahsan Yousaf led the way for the Old Boys with the bat, scoring 54 off 73 balls and helping the visitors towards a seemingly modest 172 for eight. Hemanth Kumar Venkatakrishna contributed 33, and Callum Powrie 31*. Khalid Sarwar was the pick of the Old Brentwoods attack, returning 16-2-41-3.

Ahsan followed that with excellent bowling figures of 10-4-22-3 as the home side were dismissed for 108 inside 34 overs. Hardik Varma, Luke Clarke and Ross Casson claimed two wickets apiece. the victory moved the Old Boys into second place, four points behind leaders Shenfield.

Old Southendian & Southchurch’s second string slipped to a four-wicket Division Eight defeat at the hands of their Old Brentwoods counterparts at the Peter Buter Oval, Garon Park.

Cooper Fawcett hit a century before the home side declared on 261 for nine. However, Old Brents chased down their target inside 45 overs, with Tariq Islam hitting 67, and Usman 51.

Old Southendan & Southchurch’s third team suffered a seven-wicket Division Thirteen defeat against Westcliff-on-Sea 3rd at Westcliff High School for Boys. Meanwhile, the Old Boys’ table-topping fourth team skittled Benfleet 5ths for just 81 at Shoebury Garrison, with Yuvraj Flora returning 10-2-20-4.

Old Southendian & Southchurch 5ths recorded a three-wicket Division Eighteen derby win over Southend-on-Sea & EMT at Southchurch Park.

Ricky Stevenson returned 14-2-51-3 for the visitors, while Kevin Salt carried the fight for SOSEMT, scoring 53. Chris Dove’s 78 laid the foundation for Old Southendian’s triumph.
