Springfield’s wicketkeeper/batter Manpreet Singh provided the platform for his side’s 29-run victory over Old Southendian & Southchurch at Coronation Park.

Manpreet’s knock came off 62 balls and included six 4s and four 6s. Chris Frost contributed 31, while skipper Charlie Prudence scored 29 before the home side were dismissed for 175. Matthew Austin proved to be the pick of the Old Boys attack, returning figures of three for 13, while Ahsan Yousaf and Dylan Batt claimed two wickets apiece.

That proved sufficient for the home side. Sam Brown impressively took 4/26 from 5.2 overs, while Andrew Ovel and Rob Wickham each took two, ensuring the Old Boys came up short. Ahsan top-scored for the visitors with 32 before he was trapped lbw by Brown.
