Promotion-chasing Woodford Wells proved to be too strong for Old Southendian & Southchurch by recording a comfortable six-wicket First XI Division Two success at Garon Park.

The home side reached 188 for five. Hafiz Yawer Afzal led the way with a majestic unbeaten 108 off 133 balls. Former Essex man Andy McGarry hit 53. Yazaan Khursheed proved to be the pick of the Woodford attack, returning impressive figures of 14-0-58-4.

The visitors reached their target within thirty overs. Anurag Sarangi and Connor Caplan both finished unbeaten on 70. Ahsan Yousaf and TJ Bailey each took two wickets apiece in vain for the home side.
