Old Boys boss delighted with their winning start

Old Southendian v Springfield – Essex Olympian League Premier Division – Garon Park – Report

Old Southendian 2-1 Springfield

Old Southendian got their Essex Olympian League Premier Division season off to a flying start by seeing off Springfield by the odd goal in three at Garon Park.

“We went into the match off the back of an unbeaten pre-season, which was good because we had some very tough games.,” Old Boys boss, Altan Ali, told Yellow Sport.

Nico Dubouchet scored a typical striker’s goal following a well-worked corner routine. to hand the Old Boy a first-half lead.

The home side largely dominated. However, Arinze Ossai levelled the score with a tremendous strike for the visitors before the interval.

Jack Lelliott profited from Connor Burrows’ toil to restore Old Southendian’s earlier advantage. Meanwhile, Springfield’s task was made harder when Jonathon Ogunsanya was shown a second yellow card.

Ali concluded: “To carry that form into the league against Springfield was excellent because we lost both times against them last season.”
