Old Southendian Reserves 3-0 Rochford Town
OLD SOUTHENDIAN RESERVES took another step towards their third-successive promotion with a 3-0 ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Division Two victory over a dogged Rochford Town side at Garon Park.
All the goals came in the opening period. Luke Stillwell curled the hosts in front before Lewis Caplin’s pinpoint centre allowed Ben Frankin to double the Old Boys advantage.
Jack Pagett added a third with a 25-yard piledriver. The only blot on the Old Southendian copybook, a red card for Tom Margerison shortly before the interval.
Speaking to Yellow Sport after the match, boss Ben Manley, enthused: “It was a great first half to give us the advantage. We scored some tremendous goals. But what was so pleasing was how well we played in the second half.
“We had to change things at half time after we went down to ten men. But the boys were superb and continued to play great football and protect the clean sheet against the strong wind.
Manley added: “There were so many top performances – everyone came off the pitch having given everything, but Luke Stillwell was my Man of the Match, playing like a man possessed at times.
“This sets us up nicely for our last five league matches and hopefully a
third promotion on the spin.”
