Springfield v Old Southendian – Essex Olympian League Premier Division – Arun Park – Report

Springfield 0-2 Old Southendian

Old Southendian continued their recent impressive Essex Olympian League Premier Division form with a 2-0 victory over bottom-of-the-table Springfield at Arun Park.

Buoyed by last weekend’s derby success over Catholic United, the Old Boys took a first-half lead through Nico Debouchet before substitute, Jack Lelliot doubled their advantage after the restart.

The result moved Old Southendian into sixth place, just three points behind Rayleigh Town who currently occupy second.

Old Boys boss, Altan Ali, told Yellow Sport: “This was a good win. Springfield recently appointed a new manager in Allan Fenn, and I’ve no doubt he will turn their situation around.

“We perhaps should have scored a few more goals, but the performance was dominant and showed that we are on the right track.”

Springfield manager, Fenn said: “No excuses today. Old Southendian fully deserved their 2-0 win.

“I’m fully aware of what is needed to fix it.”
