Old Boys edged out in nine-goal thriller

ACD United v Old Southendian Reserves – Essex Olympian League Division Two – Westlands Playing Fields – Report

ACD United 5-4 Old Southendian Reserves

Depleted Old Southendian Reserves made a fist of it at Essex Olympian League Division Two leade4rs, ACD United before going down by the odd goal in nine at Westlands Playing Fields.

Injuries and work commitments left the Old Boys shy on numbers. However, they recovered a two-goal deficit thanks to strikes from Oliver Tatton-Bennett and Nico Dubouchet.

But toppling a side sporting a one hundred per cent record was always going to be a tall order. Jacob Dingli bagged a brace, while Shaun Goddard, Shaun Goddard and Ollie Williams netted for the home side, who led 5-2.

Dubouchet and Luke Stillwell pulled the Old Boys back into contention, setting up a grandstand finish. But the home side held firm to secure a fifth-successive Division Two victory. Meanwhile, the Garon Park-based club remains in tenth with two wins from their five matches to date.
