Harold Wood Athletic 1-4 Old Southendian
OLD SOUTHENDIAN gave their ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division survival hopes the power of good with a 4-1 victory over bottom of the table Harold Wood Athletic at the Frances Bardsley Academy.
It was a busy display from the Seasiders, who recovered after falling behind to Christopher Muir’s twentieth-minute strike.
Ryan Stillwell levelled with a crisp, left-footed effort, then Elliot Hemmings turned the game on its head, flicking home a mammoth throw from Tom Marge.
Ed Gould added a third from the spot after the break and a satisfactory afternoon was complete when Nick Hennessey made it 4-1, profiting from an exquisite ball from Lawrence Phillips.
Speaking to Yellow Sport after the match, Old Southendian boss, Connor Lane, enthused: “We are elated to come away with all three points today.
“Harold Wood are a tough side, but we were brilliant and deserve to climb up the table.
Tom Marge, Tom Smith, Lawrence Phillips and Daniel Flack all stepped up and provided solid performances which contributed to a crucial win.”
