Old Boys look set to challenge for honours

Old Southendian v Old Chelmsfordians – Pre-Season Friendly Match – Garon Park

Old Southendian 5-1 Old Chelmsfordians

Old Southendian boss Altan Ali believes his side can challenge for honours come the start of their Essex Olympian League Premier Division campaign.

The Old Boys have already impressed during warm-up matches against White Ensign and Maldon & Tiptree without getting the results. However, against fellow Olympian League outfit Old Chelmsfordians, they went nap hand with a terrific example of attacking football.

Jack Lelliot scored twice, while Connor Burrows, Nathan Elgie and Jack Mead were also on target in a 5-1 triumph.

“We are beginning to look the part,” Ali told Yellow Sport.

“I’m really pleased with what I’ve seen from the boys so far. Now it is all about consistency. Doing it on a week-to-week basis.

“I know you can’t read too much into pre-season matches. But the desire has been evident throughout, and there are real signs that this group are hungry to win something”
