Old Southendian v Kelvedon Hatch – Essex Olympian League Premier Division – Garon Park – Report

Old Southendian 3-1 Kelvedon Hatch

Old Southendian boss, Altan Ali, was content with his sides toil after they moved within two points of the Essex Olympian League Premier Division summit with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Kelvedon Hatch at Garon Park.

“I know it’s a cliche, and I’ve said it before, but we can only control the controllable,” Ali told Yellow Sport.

“We are in a very good position, but still need others to drop points. We need to keep everyone focused and not get too carried away.

Matt Tonking, Neil Maclean and Jack Mead were on target for the home side: “I can’t complain too much,” Ali added.

“The boys are digging deep and keep coming up with the results. We are moving in the right direction as a team and as a club.”

Meanwhile, it was an afternoon to forget for the Old Boys relegation-threatened second string who were on the wrong end of a 13-0 Essex Olympian League Division Two defeat at the hands of their Catholic United counterparts.
