Old Southendian & Southchurch have bolstered their ranks ahead of the 2021 Hamro Foundation Essex Cricket League season with the signing of promising wicketkeeper/batsman, Matt Darvill.
The 19-year-old arrives at the Garon Park Club from Writtle, where he has played since the age of seven. Darvill represented Essex at under 14-16 and was a part of the under 15’s team that appeared at the ECB Royal London finals day in 2017.
“I am looking forward to joining an established Essex League club, with great facilities,” Darvill told Yellow Sport.
“I am hoping to develop and improve my game around high-quality players and I’m really looking forward to the challenge this coming season.
“Head Coach, Andy McGarry, has been a big influence on my decision to join the club. I can’t wait to meet the boys and get started.”
Meanwhile, Heach Coach, McGarry added: “Matt’s is a great signing for us.
“We have a young side and he will fit in well. It’s great news for the club that we can attract young, talented cricketers. I’m looking forward to seeing him develop and perform for us this summer.”
