Old Boys slip after a strong start

Old Southendian Reserves 1-4 Beacon Hill Rovers

GOALSCORER Oli Tatton-Bennett thought the result didn’t reflect the performances as Old Southendian Reserves were beaten 4-1 by ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Division Two leaders Beacon Hill Rovers at an icy Garon Park.

The month-long lockdown appeared to have had little effect of the home side who led thanks to Tatton-Bennets 35th-minute strike.

However, Rovers hit back five minutes after the restart and had turned the game on its head by the hour mark.

Old Southendian continued to battle, but chasing the game against a capable side proved too much – there afternoon compunded further bty the dismissal of goalkeeper, George Dugdale.

Rovers scored twice in the final five minutes to secure a 4-1 success. Henry Ballard (2), Lewis Sherwood and Ben Jackman having supplied the desisive moments for the visitors.

“The scoreline was harsh on us,” Tatton-Bennett told Yellow Sport.

“All in all, it was a competitive game. I didn’t think we deserved to lose 4-1. The overall effort and commitment from the team was excellent.”
