Old Southendian Reserves 3-3 Harold Wood Athletic Reserves
Old Southendian Reserves twice came from behind to snatch a share of the spoils against a Harold Wood Athletic side that performed far better than their lowly ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Division Two position suggested.
Goals from Derek Hawtin and Warren Taylor gave the visitors a two-goal advantage. However, the Old Boys fought back through Nico Dubouchet’s header and a Lew Bickford strike midway through the second period.
Substitute, Darren Wettner, restored Harold Wood’s lead and appeared to have snaffled a first victory of the season for his side. But with time running out, David Stubbs sent a superb left-footed, curling effort into the net to ensure a share of the spoils.
Oliver Tatton-Bennett spoke to Yellow Sport after the game, explaining: “Overall we’re a little disappointed with the result today but full credit to a hard-working Harold Wood team who were clinical in front of goal and whose league position certainly doesn’t reflect the team’s performance.”
