OLD SOUTHENDIAN Ladies first team suffered a 4-1 defeat at league leaders, Old Loughts. However, it was a brave performance from the Seasiders against a strong, experienced home side.

Old Loughts took a two-goal lead, but Amy Elvidge and Anna Cooper combining to reduce the arrears and set up a tense finish.

It was only in the final stages that Old Loughts put the contest out of reach. Speaking after the game, captain Emily Robinson, explained: “I was really proud today, the team were determined and gave the opposition a tougher game than they expected.”

The Old Girls second string went down by an early goal to nil at East London – Goalkeeper, Charlotte Olden, producing a superb display to keep the home side at bay. Captain Ros Jackson, said: “This was a superb game and highlighted how far we have come as a team but it’s always disappointing to come second”
