Old Girls too strong for Braintree

OLD SOUTHENDIAN LADIES Hockey first XI travelled to the north of the county depleted but in a determined mood.

Indeed, Old Girls second-string leading scorer, Chloe Foster, was elevated to make up the eleven and she was to continue where she’d left off with another goal.

Anna Cooper profited from Emily Robinbson’s toil to hand the Seasiders a first-half advantage. Then, after the interval, Old Southendian took full control, with Foster adding to her already impressive CV along with another goal from Robinson to make it three.

Freya Cotton completed the rout as the Old Girls secured an impressive 4-0 triumph with a skilful and ruthless performance.

Old Southendian’s second team also enjoyed that winning feeling. Kaylen Mehta and Cris Liebenberg scoring in a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Witham. Speaking after the match, Old Girls captain, Ros Jackson, enthused: “This was another solid, determined performance. Our team spirit is very high. We remain unbeaten since Christmas and we are enjoying this half of the season.”
