Old Southendian Reserves 4-1 Wakering Sports Reserves
Dave Manley reflected upon Reserve League Cup progress by the Old Southendian side, suggesting the Garon Park outfit had hit the heights during their 4-1 victory over Wakering Sports second string.
“For me, this was our best performance of the season with the whole squad playing their part,” the Old Boys boss told Yellow Sport.
“We played at a high tempo throughout and were patient in our approach.
“The creativity in the final third was brilliant – the chances we created were all taken well. We look forward to the quarter-final ahead.”
Jared Brand finished a superb team move to had the home side the lead. And it was 2-0 shortly before the break – Tom Smith’s clever flick bearing fruit after David Stubbs had fashioned the opportunity.
Nico Dubouchet all but killed the contest with a crisp volley from six-yards. And although Sports reduced the arrears, Smith bagged his second of the afternoon with a terrific first-time finish from eighteen yards.
