AFC Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspur – Vitality Stadium – Premier League – Thursday 6pm
AFC Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspur – Preview;
Jose Mourinho refused to be drawn on the timing of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.
Spurs head to the south coast and will subsequently face Arsenal without much in the way of recovery time compared to their North London rivals.
Nevertheless, with Spurs still harbouring ambitions of European football next season and the Cherries needing points for vastly different reasons, Mourinho looked no further than the task in hand rather than get carried away in derby talk.
“I know that but there’s nothing I can do and I prefer at this moment to focus on Bournemouth and to forget what’s coming after that,” the Portuguese chief explained.
“Bournemouth is the kind of team that always gives me reason when I don’t look to the table, I look to the potential of the team. It’s not important for me that they’re in a relegation position.”
Dele Alli will miss the trip – his hamstring injury still an issue, while Eric Dier begins a four-match ban and fined £40,000 by the FA for climbing over seats to confront a fan after the Lilywhites FA Cup defeat at the hands of Norwich City in March.
Mourinho refused to talk about the Dier situation. However, when quizzes on the severity of Dele’s injury, he said; “Small, but not ready for tomorrow.
“We know that he has a little sad history about hamstrings last season I think. So it’s ‘be careful and not risk’ when you know that he has a little problem there. So tomorrow, out.”
