Leyton Orient’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Walsall at the Bescot Stadium has been suspended following a number of positive COVID tests returned by the O’s players earlier this week.
The O’s Carabao Cup third-round tie with Tottenham Hotspur was postponed as a result and with members of the East Londoners squad in self-isolation, their meeting with the Saddlers is now also on hold.
A statement from the EFL which also appeared on www.leytonorient.com explained;
Due to the number of positive cases of COVID-19 within the Leyton Orient squad and the requirement for players and staff to subsequently self-isolate as per EFL and Government guidance, the Club has advised the EFL it considers it is unable to safely fulfil this weekend’s fixture.
The circumstances surrounding the postponement will now be the subject of investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.
