Leyton Orient involvement in this seasons’ Papa John’s Trophy was concluded via a penalty shootout after their Breyer Group Stadium tie with Milton Keynes Dons had ended goalless.
Ruel Sotiriou’s effort was tipped onto the bar by Dons’ stopper, Franco Ravizzoli, while Dan Nkrumah and Harry Smith also went close for the home side. Meanwhile, Hiram Boateng was denied late on for teh visitors thanks to a combination of O’s keeper, Rhys Byrne, defender, Dan Happe and the frame of the goal.
Troy Parrott was dismissed in the final stages for the Dons. However, they held their nerve to progress. Aden Baldwin dispatched the decisive kick after Soririou had earlier been denied.
The O’s now host Tranmere Rovers in an Emirates FA Cup second round tie on Saturday, December 4 (3pm)
