O’s win a statement of intent for Kitch

Bristol Rovers v Leyton Orient – Sky Bet League Two – The Memorial Ground – Reaction

Bristol Rovers 1-3 Leyton Orient

There’s a feelgood factor in E10 and it’s swiftly gathering momentum.

Of course, on this occasion, the good news was delivered from the west. Leyton Orient chalked up another impressive Sky Bet League Two victory, this time dispatching Bristol Rovers by three goals to one, leaving them second in the table and offering former frontman, Peter Kitchen another opportunity to wax lyrical over Kenny Jackett’s in-form charges.

Headed goals from Harry Smith and Aaron Drinan, either side of a stunning volley from Theo Archibald had the points secured before the interval. Even a late Rovers spot-kick from Brett Pitman couldn’t dampen the spirits.

“It was another statement of intent from the O’s, Kitchen enthusiastically told Yellow Sport.

“We mean business and have emerged as one of the clear favourites for promotion following our early-season form.

“Our first-half performance left Rovers shellshocked as we effectively condemned them to defeat in double-quick time following an emphatic opening forty-five minutes.

Kitchen continued: “Following the 4-0 drubbing of Oldham Athletic, Kenny Jacket named the same starting line-up, indicating he is pleased with the shape and balance of his team.

“Although we were the away side, it was clear that the manager believes his side are good enough to take it to the opposition, whoever and wherever we might be.

“We are up to second, scoring goals, appear to be firing on all cylinders and are back in front of the Brisbane Road crowd nets Saturday against struggling Mansfield Town. I’d imagine I’m not the only O’s supporter who can’t wait for the games to come round each week. Long may that continue.”
