Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of a collision in South Benfleet which took place on Wednesday 19 January.
The incident, which involved a pedestrian and a Ford Fiesta, took place shortly before 5.20pm on the A13 London Road, close to the Tarpots crossroads.
The pedestrian, a man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
