Forest Green Rovers v Leyton Orient – The New Lawn – Sky Bet League Two – Saturday 3pm

Forest Green Rovers v Leyton Orient – Preview:

Peter Kitchen has urged the Leyton Orient players to keep their minds firmly on the football when they take on Forest Green Rovers at the New Lawn on Saturday.

“Forest Green have been labelled the first ‘eco-friendly’ club in the country but following agitated allegations between the two managers, Ross Embleton and Mark Cooper, during the corresponding fixture at Brisbane Road, that is as amicable as this potential grudge-match is about to get,” Kitchen explained.

“Orient were beaten 4-2 that day. This could prove to be a feisty, bruising encounter – It is important that Ross and the players approach the game professionally, concentrate wholly on the football and not to get involved in petty confrontations.”

Kitchen certainly believes Orient are more than capable of adding to the host’s recent woes, adding: “It is certainly a game Orient can take something from. Forest Green started the season brightly, but recent form has been woeful. They are without a win in eight matches, losing each of their last six at home. They will be desperate to put a stop to that sequence, although with confidence fragile and self-belief in short supply, Orient should head west targeting this one for three points.

“Despite their recent poor run, Forest Green are still within touching distance of the play-off places – a win will put them back on track – they have everything to play for. Ross needs to set up positively. Don’t be complacent defensively and be prepared to ‘mix it’ themselves.

“Orient have lost just one of their last five, although performances have largely been unconvincing.

“Of course, the manager and supporters want to see us build on that, but with little to play for in terms of league places, we’d all like to see Ross implement something a little more attack-minded in terms of his team selection which allows us to play on the front foot.

“But I think its more likely that he will stick with the current system and hope to come back with at least a point.”
