Bristol Rovers v Leyton Orient – The Memorial Ground – leasing.com Trophy – Wednesday 7:45pm
Bristol Rovers v Leyton Orient – Preview:
PETER KITCHEN believes the Leyton Orient management must use Wednesday’s leasing.com Trophy tie with Bristol Rovers wisely as they look to rediscover a winning formula.
The O’s have struggled of late, slipping towards the lower reaches of League Two, while Carl Fletcher’s tenure in the Brisbane Road hot seat lasted just 29 disastrous days.
“Ross Embleton has had plenty of time to work with the team since the Forest Green match, the game at Bristol Rovers must now be used to put everything into practice,” Kitchen told Yellow Sport.
“I know some people will say that it’s an unimportant competition, but this particular game offers Orient an opportunity to try something different or simply improve on what we already have.
“As a former player, I can tell you that I wanted to win every single match, whether it was in the league or on the training pitch. I’m sure this group are exactly the same. They will want to get recent events out of their system with a solid performance giving us something to build upon.”
Kitchen continued: “It’ll be interesting to see is Ross starts with striker, Ruel Sotiriou, following his successful – but short – loan spell at Dover Athletic. He certainly went out with a point to prove and now has an opportunity to show the management that they have a proven goalscorer in the ranks – something we have lacked since Macauley Bonne went to Charlton.
“Of course, Bristol Rovers are a League One club and have a reasonable squad to select from – it will be tough. But it’s a case of small steps for Orient. A decent performance will provide confidence, as will getting a result against a side from a higher division, however difficult that might prove to be.”
