Leyton Orient v Macclesfield Town – Breyer Group Stadium – Sky Bet League Two – Saturday 3pm
Leyton Orient v Macclesfield Town – Preview:
Peter Kitchen looked ahead at two home Sky Bet League Two matches for this week and insisted they are now a few pieces closer to the complete jigsaw.
The O’s eased to a comfortable 3-0 victory at Stevenage on Saturday, the east Londoners second win in three, lifting them twelve points above the relegation zone. However, it was the striking options which Kitchen was most satisfied with.
“Ruel Sotiriou continues to impress me, while Ouss Cisse is now up and running with a goal – I think the additions of Dan Johnson and Kazaiah Sterling also offer Ross Embleton plenty to think about in terms of his best front pairing.
“Initially, I was critical of Ross and how he set the team up – particularly at home. But he has addressed this. Orient appears to be playing a little more on the front foot and have started to climb the table.
Orient face struggling Macclesfield Town at the Breyer Group Stadium on Saturday before entertaining Mansfield Town on Tuesday evening and Kitchen has urged for more of the same.
“We have to take the game to Macclesfield,” Kitchen continued.
“They have lost their last two games and should be there for the taking. Orient now have a little more quality in attack and we are certainly creating plenty of chances. We have to be professional, but this is a game we should be winning.
“Once again, like at Stevenage, Orient have to be creative, ruthless and ensure the game is all bout them. Ross appears to have found a formula and although I know we are not the finished article, we have taken steps towards where we want to be.”
“We have to be mindful that Macclesfield beat us at Moss Rose back in August. They have endured their own well-documented issues off the field which I’m sure O’s followers will be sympathetic of. But they have shown spirit throughout their troubles. I’ve no doubt they will come to E10 and make things awkward. But it is now up to Ross and the players to prove that Orient has turned the corner and are aiming higher.”
