Peter Kitchen: Rovers’ test a tough task for off-colour O’s

Leyton Orient v Forest Green Rovers – Sky Bet League Two – Breyer Group Stadium – Tuesday 7:45pm – Preview

Peter Kitchen is fearful that off-colour Leyton Orient are running into Sky Bet League Two leaders, Forest Green Rovers at exactly the wrong time.

The O’s have struggled of late, taking just three points from the last twelve on offer, whereas Rovers returned to winning ways at Scunthorpe United at the weekend, moving them four points clear at the top following Harrogate Town’s defeat at Colchester United.

“I’m not panicking and honestly believe Kenny Jackett will pull us through this mini blip, but I’m not sure it will happen just yet,” the former frontman told Yellow Sport.

“Admittedly, we have drawn three of the four matches, suggesting we are resolute. But we now go into a tough game, needing to avoid defeat and perhaps with confidence questioned having failed to create, put away and see off some winnable matches.

“I think we are playing Forest Green at the wrong time. I still think we will be amongst the contenders come the end of the season. Indeed, I’m pretty sure Jackett will bolster the squad at the turn of the year, focusing on creativity and the forward areas.”

Kitchen added: “I hope the players can prove me wrong. I’d be happy with another draw – a defeat would leave us twelve points behind them, it could also cost us our place in the top seven if other results go against us.

“As I said, the plusses are that we’ve drawn three of the last four and kept two clean sheets. But until we can find our feet in front of goal again, I’m worried we will continue to lose ground and momentum, which is sometimes difficult to rediscover.”

Peter Kitchen’s prediction: Leyton Orient 0-2 Forest Green Rovers
