Tottenham Hotspur v Sheffield United – Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Premier League – Saturday 3pm
Tottenham Hotspur v Sheffield United – Preview:
SPURS BOSS, MAURICIO POCHETTINO, admitted he has been hugely impressed with Saturday’s opponents, Sheffield United.
Chris Wilder’s Blades arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sitting in sixth place in the Premier League following promotion last season and the Lilywhites chief expects a tough test for his charges as the Yorkshiremen look to add to their four league victories to date
“It is going to be very difficult,” the Argentine explained.
“They work so hard. What impressed me the most is the belief, the togetherness, spirit like a rugby team that fights for each other, that is fantastic to see in a football team.
“They have a good squad, great organisation, a great manager and I think to fight for each other, they have good players, of course, that is the key for Sheffield United and that’s why they are doing so well, with so many points.”
Tottenham recorded a comfortable 4-0 UEFA Champions League victory over Crvena zvezda during the week. A result Pochettino hoped signalled that his side has turned the corner following an indifferent start to the campaign.
“I hope yes – hopefully keep in the same way. It was a difficult game, the result 4-0 looks easy, but in different periods, we nearly conceded,” he continued
They hit the post, an unbelievable save from Paulo that could change the game.
“Always you need luck to score first and then have the capacity to control. I was happy after Everton and after Red Star, but we need to finish winning, but it will be tough.”
Ahead of the Blades visit, Pochettino offered praise to his opposite number, Wilder, adding: “It is fantastic. I think everyone has seen how he has been working and the fantastic job – The best thing is how I described the team.”
