Colchester United have confirmed that frontman Kwame Poku has joined Sky Bet Championship outfit Peterborough United.
The 19-year-old has already appeared 75 times for the U’s in all competitions.
On his departure from the North Essex club, Poku told www.theposh.com: “I really enjoyed my time at Colchester, there were ups and downs, but that is football, I wish them nothing but the best for the future.
Meanwhile, U’s Director of Football, Tony Hume, added: “Kwame is a player with enormous potential and we didn’t want to lose him.
“But the deal was right for all three parties, Kwame, us and Peterborough, and when that happens, you can’t stand in the way of a young player’s path to a higher level.
“We all hope he enjoys the success that Sammy and Frankie have enjoyed in their time with Peterborough and wish him the best of luck.”
