Police appeal for witnesses after cyclist is seriously injured in Chelmsford collision

Police are investigating a collision in which a cyclist was injured and are looking to trace any witnesses who have yet to come forward.

A grey Seat Ibiza was in collision with a bicycle in Partridge Avenue, at the junction of Wickham Crescent, in Chelmsford, at 9.50am on Sunday September 13.

The car failed to stop and about five minutes later collided with a roundabout in Essex Regiment Way near Costa Coffee.

The driver, an 18-year-old man from Chelmsford, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink or drugs.

He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The cyclist, a 65-year-old man, suffered serious arm and hip injuries.

Police wish to speak to anyone who saw the collision or was driving in these areas at the time and has dash cam footage.
