ESSEX COUNTY CRICKET CLUB has announced new deals for two of their most influential players ahead of the 2020 season.
Popular off-break bowler, Simon Harmer, has agreed an extension to his current deal, tieing him to the county until 2022, while Australian international leg-spinner, Adam Zampa, will once again feature for the Eagles in their Vitality Blast campaign.
Speaking to www.essexcricket.org about furthering his stay, 30-year-old Harmer explained: “I’m really excited to sign an extension and commit my future to this great Club.
“From the moment I arrived three years ago, I was made to feel part of the group and at ease in Chelmsford, and it is now a place I consider my home, so it was an easy decision for me to make.”
Zampa will be hoping he can help Essex retain their T20 crown. He too was excited to be returning to Chelmsford, adding: “I’m really looking forward to getting back to Chelmsford and playing in front of that great crowd again.
“I’ve played there for the last two years now and Essex is a great Club to play for. I get on really well with all the lads in the changing room and I feel at home there.
“Last year was amazing. We didn’t start too well but once we got on a roll we were unstoppable. Not many people would have had us down to win it, but we knew what we were capable of, and hopefully, we can repeat that in 2020.”
