Essex’s Jamie Porter found his form, taking five wickets on the penultimate day of the County Select XI’s encounter with the New Zealand tourists at Chelmsford.

The Leytonstone-born right-arm medium-fast bowler returned figures of five for 31 from ten overs as the New Zealanders were bowled out in their second innings for 148.

Worcestershire’s Ben Gibbon also impressed with the ball, taking 3/36, including Neil Wagner and Kyle Jamieson, who each scored 36 for the visitors.

Openers, Ben Compton and Dom Sibley put on 88 for the first wicket as the County side honed in on a victory. They require 152 on the final day with nine wickets intact. Play resumes on Sunday at 11am.
