Positives aplenty for Jose and Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 Ludogorets Razgrad – Reaction

It was a comfortable night – all too comfortable at times – for Jose Mourinho and his Tottenham Hotspur side.

But despite the meagre challenge offered by Ludogorets Razgrad, the Lilywhites chief was able to take some real positives from this proverbial stroll in the park.

Carlos Vinicius showed glimpses of his potential, while Dele Alli looked a little more like his old self following a frustrating few months.

Offer cameos to three of teh North Londoners up and coming stars – goalkeeper, Alfie Whiteman along with Harvey White and Dane Scarlett – the latter becoming the youngest Spurs debutant at just 16.

On Vinicius, Mourinho explained: “He is not playing a lot, especially in Premier League but he helped us to win the game at West Bromwich and in Europa League, he is doing okay and adapting.

“Today was good that he scored an important goal.

“The second one is seventy-five per cent Dele’s goal. But then in the second half, he assists Lucas for his goal. He is a big boy, a strong boy and needs to be more physical in the Premier League but I am happy.

“It is good for the team to have that because for example last season if Harry Kane needed a rest – we couldn’t and because Vinicius is here, the squad is much more balanced.”

Mourinho was equally enthusiastic about Dele. adding: “He could try to score but for Vinicius, it was an easy goal. A team player does that – no risk and 2-0. It doesn’t surprise me that he did that.”

Mourinho was unaware that Scarlett had set a record, enthusing: “I didn’t know that (he was the youngest player to debut for Tottenham). So when I played him I didn’t know he was the youngest one.

“It’s a good thing – He had a good pre-season with us, it was a good experience for him at the age of 16 to have a pre-season with the first team.”
