Pressure mounts on Etherington after U’s setback

Pressure mounted further on boss Matthew Etherington after his Colchester United side slipped to their sixteenth Sky Bet League Two defeat of the season as hosts AFC Wimbledon recorded a 5-3 success at Plough Lane.

The U’s remain six points above the dropzone, but concern amongst the fans continues to rise. Josh Davison and Joe Lewis each scored twice for the home side, while Ali Al Hamadi was also on target. 

Cameron McGeehan netted twice for the U’s but was later sent off, while Tom Dallison was on target in stoppage time. 

Colchester United return to Sky Bet League One action on Monday, January 1 when Gillingham visits the JobServe Community Stadium (3pm).
