A free exhibition has opened at Chelmsford Cathedral which tells the stories of lockdown

From March to June, people were asked to explore their losses during the COVID-19 pandemic and their hopes for the future by creating a postcard.

The response was overwhelming with postcards coming in from as far away as Canada.

Canon Imogen Nay, who initiated the project, said: “Nobody’s journey through 2020-21 has been the same, but there have been some common themes – fear, learning new skills, not seeing family or friends and rethinking life’s priorities.”

Nearly 100 postcards are now on show at the cathedral.

The Mayor of Chelmsford, Cllr Jude Deakin, opened the exhibition, which has been created in collaboration with The Material Girls. It will be open Monday – Saturday from 10am-4pm and midday – 3pm on Sundays until August 20.
