Prolific Southend shoplifter jailed after breaching Criminal Behaviour Order

A prolific Southend shoplifter has been put behind bars.

James Coleman had been made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order in March last year, banning him from entering certain shops in Southend and Westcliff for two years.

However, between May 26 and June 10, the 35 year-old, of no fixed address, carried out 11 thefts from shops in the two areas stealing items totalling nearly £1,300.

He was arrested on June 11 and then charged with a series of offences including theft from a shop and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.

At Southend Magistrates’ Court the following day he admitted the charges and was sentenced to a year in prison.
