Rainham man arrested in connection with collision in Chelmsford

A man has been arrested following a report of a car leaving the scene of a collision in Chelmsford which left a man with serious injuries.

Police were called shortly before 9.10am on Sunday August 27 to the scene of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Glebe Road.

It was found the car had left the scene.

The pedestrian was left with serious injuries which are not life-threatening.

Following intelligence received, officers traced the vehicle to Hylands Park Car Park, in Chelmsford, by 10.10am, where a man was detained and arrested.

A 22-year-old man, from Rainham was questioned on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, failing to stop, driving under the influence and being concerned in supplying a controlled drug.

He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
